Nvidia (NVDA.O) has reached a settlement with a German subsidiary of the Paris-based automotive parts supplier Valeo Group, ending a lawsuit involving trade secrets related to autonomous driving technology. In 2021, an engineer from Valeo jumped ship to Nvidia while the two companies were collaborating on a technology project for Mercedes-Benz. According to a lawsuit filed by Valeo in 2023, the engineer's screen was seen displaying Valeo's source code files during a video conference, and a screenshot was captured before the window was closed. Nvidia denied in earlier court documents using the stolen data to develop its own self-parking assistance technology and stated that they had "rolled back" all work completed by the engineer on the project, and fired them.
