Italian bank sector closes up more than 1%

The German DAX 30 index closed down 0.51% at 23,955.24 points. The French stock index closed down 0.27%, while the Italian stock index closed up 0.23% and the banking index rose 1.21%. The UK stock index closed up 1.01%.
