Cui Dongshu: The key to breaking the competition of luxury fuel vehicles lies in the traditional peak season not being prosperous.
Cui Dongshu, the secretary of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, said that the monthly trend of the passenger car market in 2025 is significantly different from previous years. The domestic retail sales growth rate of the car market increased by 1.2% from January to February, 15% from March to June, hovered around 6% from July to September, and dropped by 8% in November, with sales volume remaining flat from September to November. This trend basically corresponds to the initial prediction of "low at first, then high, then steady" at the beginning of the year. The traditional peak season since October this year has not been as strong as expected, with a significant decline in sales of homogenized products and a large downturn in the B-segment SUV market. Some high-end new models have performed well, such as the new Cadillac XT5, reflecting the high acceptance of new fuel vehicles by mainstream car companies. Although there is significant pressure for negative growth in the fourth quarter of this year, the growth of the automotive market in the 14th Five-Year Plan period has been strong. Currently, the market is in a subsidy adjustment phase. Looking ahead, there is still great potential for growth in the automotive market at the beginning of the 15th Five-Year Plan in 2026.
