The Ministry of Emergency Management held a press conference this morning. During the meeting, the relevant officials introduced that according to climate predictions, this winter in China will see significant fluctuations in temperatures, frequent cold waves and strong cooling events, with many areas experiencing strong wind processes and frequent occurrences of heavy fog. Central and western China, the eastern parts of southwestern China, and the southeastern parts of northwestern China will experience periods of low temperatures, rain, snow, and freezing weather. In addition, as the end of the year approaches and the beginning of the new year, there will be increased production and business activities among enterprises, and more gatherings and activities among the public. The use of fire, electricity, gas, and holiday travel will peak, increasing safety risks significantly. It is necessary for all parties to work together to strengthen safety precautions. Recently, the office of the National Committee for Disaster Prevention and Relief has specifically deployed winter disaster weather prevention and response work: strengthening monitoring and early warning, providing timely warnings for disasters such as heavy snow, freezing rain, cold waves, strong winds, and heavy fog; strengthening the investigation of hidden dangers, especially in key periods such as New Year's Day and the Spring Festival, winter construction projects, areas prone to icing, power lines prone to ice accumulation, large-span buildings, agricultural greenhouses, hospitals, nursing homes, schools, large passenger transportation hubs, and tourist attractions, conducting risk investigations and remediation; strengthening emergency preparedness by adequately stocking emergency materials such as de-icing agents, snowmelt agents, anti-skid materials, cotton clothes, and quilts, equipping emergency equipment such as snow melters and emergency equipment for breaking ice and snow, dynamically organizing emergency forces in advance, and preparing for emergency rescue in case of sudden emergencies. The State Council's Work Safety Committee has deployed a major fire risk investigation and remediation action for high-rise buildings, focusing on residential, office, medical, commercial, and other tall civilian buildings, especially those undergoing external wall renovation construction and internal partial renovation of tall civilian buildings, conducting investigation and remediation, and comprehensively strengthening fire safety management in high-rise buildings. At the same time, it is conducting fire safety governance for self-built commercial buildings, focusing on fire risk investigation in "nine small places," mixed commercial premises, and densely populated places, continuously promoting comprehensive rectification of key areas such as electric bicycles, building insulation materials, fire operations in densely populated areas, and urban gas, and making every effort to prevent and control safety risks around the public.
