Hungarian Foreign and Minister of Foreign Economic Affairs, Pter Szijjrt, announced on the 16th in Budapest that Hungary's power company has signed a liquefied natural gas procurement agreement with Chevron, totaling 20 billion cubic meters and lasting for 5 years. Szijjrt made the announcement at a press conference held jointly with James Danly, the Deputy Secretary of the US Department of Energy. According to the agreement, Chevron will supply 4 billion cubic meters of liquefied natural gas to Hungary each year. This will be the first time that US liquefied natural gas is included in Hungary's energy supply structure. Szijjrt also mentioned that Hungary has signed relevant contracts with Westinghouse for the supply of nuclear fuel for the Paks Nuclear Power Plant and plans to start between 2028 and 2029. The two sides also reached an agreement to use US technology to build small modular reactors in Hungary.
