Australian Prime Minister Albanese announced after a national cabinet meeting this afternoon that the cabinet unanimously agreed to strengthen gun control nationwide. According to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, the proposed gun control measures being discussed include expediting the establishment of a national gun registry, restricting the number of firearms individuals can own, and making Australian citizenship a requirement for applying for a gun license. The shooting incident at Bondi Beach in Sydney on the 14th has resulted in the deaths of 16 people, including a suspect in the shooting, and 40 others injured, with the two suspects being a father and son. Police stated that the suspect who was shot dead had a legally held gun license and was allowed to own 6 firearms.
