According to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, the proposed gun control measures being discussed include expediting the establishment of a national gun registry, restricting the number of firearms individuals can own, and making Australian citizenship a requirement for applying for a gun license. The shooting incident at Bondi Beach in Sydney on the 14th has resulted in the deaths of 16 people, including a suspect in the shooting, and 40 others injured, with the two suspects being a father and son. Police stated that the suspect who was shot dead had a legally held gun license and was allowed to own 6 firearms.
