The recently launched new offensive by the Congo-based anti-government armed group "M23 Movement" reiterated on the 9th that it is willing to continue dialogue with the government to promote a political solution to the crisis in the eastern part of the country. Congolese President Joseph Kabila said in a national address on the 8th in the capital Kinshasa that the "M23 Movement" had recently launched an attack on government forces in South Kivu province. It is reported that the fighting is approaching the strategically important city of Uvira in the province.
