An American company has launched the world's first scalable DNA data storage solution, with a lifespan of up to a thousand years.
American DNA storage technology startup Atlas Data Storage announced the launch of its first commercial product. The company did not release DNA storage hardware to the general market, but instead launched a service called "Atlas Eon 100", claiming it to be the "world's first scalable DNA data storage solution". Along with this release, the company made bold statements about the ultra-high density and long durability of DNA storage, directly comparing it to magnetic tape storage several times. In its official website and press releases, Atlas emphasized the durability of DNA storage. Regarding the Eon 100 product/service, Atlas explicitly claimed that its capsules can "store for thousands of years without the need for refreshing, and remain stable in environments up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit".
