The 7th day is the voting day for the election of the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. On the 6th, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Carrie Lam, visited a general polling station at the Tung Chung Sports Centre on Man Tung Road, as well as a nearby border polling station located at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Port Passenger Terminal Building, to inspect the venue arrangements and the preparation of staff, observe the demonstration of the electronic voter registration system and the counting process. Carrie Lam posted on social media that the Electoral Affairs Office summarized the successful experience of the 2023 District Council elections, and in this Legislative Council election, in addition to setting up four nearby border polling stations in Sheung Shui, new border polling stations were added at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge Hong Kong Port Passenger Terminal Building and the Hong Kong International Airport Terminal 2 to further facilitate voters traveling from the Mainland and overseas, and to facilitate voters who need to work or have been pre-registered at two locations. This year, several new voting arrangements have been introduced, including setting up polling stations outside institutions and establishing dedicated polling stations for the convenience of civil servants, Hospital Authority medical staff, and ethnic minority voters to cast their votes. Carrie Lam stated that after improving the electoral system, the coverage of the Legislative Council is more comprehensive and balanced, with a greater diversity of voices and opinions, reflecting both regional and sectoral interests as well as the overall interests of Hong Kong. In this Legislative Council election, approximately 4.13 million local constituency voters, nearly 190,000 functional constituency voters/authorized representatives, and all Election Committee members will vote to elect 90 councilors. She urged all eligible voters to vote enthusiastically, electing Legislative Council members who are ambitious, capable, and responsible, to contribute to the development and well-being of Hong Kong.
