The Greater Bay Area University is officially established.

On December 6th, the Greater Bay Area University held its inaugural ceremony at the Songshan Lake campus, marking the official establishment of this new research-oriented university with a focus on science and engineering. The founding president of Bay Area University, academician Tian Gang from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, stated that the school's educational positioning is "science and engineering, small but refined, high-level research-oriented," focusing on six areas including material science, advanced engineering, life science, information science and technology, natural science, and finance management. The university aims to cultivate high-quality research-oriented talents with the ability to solve complex problems and innovate in response to the strengths and development needs of the Greater Bay Area.
