Meta has postponed the release of Phoenix mixed reality glasses to 2027, saying they are striving to "perfect the details."
According to reports, Meta's Reality Labs vice president, Mah Sabah, stated in a memo sent to employees on Thursday that the company had originally planned to launch the device in the second half of 2026, but has now decided to postpone it to the first half of 2027. Another memo from the head of the metaverse business, Gabriel Orr and Ryan Keynes, stated that delaying the release date "will give us more breathing room to perfect the details." They added, "Currently, many projects are progressing rapidly, and the core user experience is also undergoing major adjustments, and we must ensure that the final experience presented is completely mature and reliable, without compromising on this point." Meanwhile, Meta is also developing the next generation of Quest headsets, as well as a wearable device codenamed "Malibu 2". Meta declined to comment on the matter.
