According to the China Earthquake Networks Center, a 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck Akqi County in Xinjiang at 15:44 on December 4. The epicenter of the quake was located in Kulasarik Township at a depth of 10 kilometers. The area is a high-mountain region with an average altitude of 2557 meters and a sparse population. So far, no reports of casualties have been received, and the transportation, power, and communication in Akqi County and surrounding areas are operating normally. Rescue teams have arrived in Kulasarik Township to conduct post-earthquake assessments and prevent secondary disasters. Emergency response teams in Kizilsu Kirghiz Autonomous Prefecture, as well as neighboring Aksu and Kashgar regions, have been mobilized and are prepared to respond at any time. Due to the earthquake, some passenger trains have been delayed to varying degrees.
