The Canadian company Amarok announced last month that they have discovered high-quality rare earth mineral deposits in the southern region of Greenland, with a total rare earth oxide content as high as 2.31%. On the 2nd, Olafsson, CEO of Amarok, said in an interview with AFP that the company is considering developing Greenland's rare earth resources. However, he also admitted that developing rare earth resources in Greenland is fraught with difficulties, as the polar environment is harsh, there is a lack of infrastructure on the island, no smelting plants, and not enough skilled workers. In addition, attracting a "significant amount" of external funding will be necessary for developing rare earth resources. The company had previously revealed that their technical team will continue to evaluate Greenland's rare earth resources and plan to start drilling as early as next spring.
