According to sources familiar with the matter, Anthropic is in advanced negotiations to acquire Bun. Bun is a startup company that develops software to run and manage code more efficiently. The artificial intelligence company is considering acquiring the company for a price in the hundreds of millions of dollars, which would be Anthropic's first acquisition. This acquisition will provide direct technical and talent support for Anthropic, which has been using Bun for over six months, and further enhance the performance and stability of its code agent, Claude Code. Bun's software will also help enterprise customers deploy Claude Code more efficiently. According to sources, the agent's annualized revenue reached $1 billion last month. Anthropic will hire Bun's 7 employees and acquire their technology, with these employees continuing to maintain operations. Previously, Anthropic has mainly focused on "talent acquisitions," absorbing researchers and engineers from startup companies without acquiring their technology.
