At present, the increasing trend of influenza in Beijing has slowed down. The intensity of the flu in this city may have already peaked.
On the afternoon of December 3rd, the Beijing CDC held a media briefing to introduce the influenza situation and vaccine vaccination in the city. It was reported that the current respiratory infectious diseases in the city are mainly influenza, with the predominant strain being the influenza A (H3N2) subtype. Currently, influenza is the main respiratory infectious disease in the city, and there has been no overlapping epidemic of influenza with other respiratory infectious diseases. The number of patients visiting fever clinics in the city is also lower than the peak levels of the past two years. Since the end of October this year, influenza activity in the city has been steadily increasing, entering the peak season in mid-November, about 4 weeks earlier than the 2024-25 flu season. Although the positivity rate for influenza-like cases is higher than the peak of the 2024-25 flu season, it is still lower than the peak in March 2023. The current upward trend of influenza has slowed down, indicating that the intensity of influenza activity in the city may have peaked. It is necessary to pay attention to the risk of exacerbation of underlying diseases in elderly people and patients with chronic basic diseases after infection.
