Venezuela condemns the U.S. court ruling of "forced sale" of Citgo Petroleum Corporation.
On December 2nd local time, Venezuelan Vice President Rodriguez read a government statement strongly condemning a U.S. court ruling to "force the sale" of Citgo Petroleum Corporation. The statement described this as a plundering action against the assets of Venezuelan citizens. The statement pointed out that this action was carried out by the U.S. government in collusion with extreme opposition in Venezuela, using fraudulent procedures in the U.S., which constitutes a brutal deprivation of Venezuelan assets and seriously harms the national interests of Venezuela. The statement emphasized that Venezuela will continue to take all available measures to hold all individuals involved accountable. Citgo Petroleum Corporation is a large oil company headquartered in the U.S., with the Venezuelan national oil company as its largest shareholder. It imports heavy crude oil from Venezuela, refines it, and sells it throughout the U.S., with the funds flowing back to Venezuela.
