Australia launches national artificial intelligence plan

The Australian government released a national artificial intelligence plan on the 2nd, aiming to accelerate the development and application of AI, ensure that the benefits can be shared by the citizens, and maintain a cautious balance between innovation and risk prevention. According to the introduction, the plan will focus on three main goals: seizing opportunities, including attracting investment in Australian digital and physical infrastructure, supporting local capacity building, and positioning Australia as a major destination for future AI investment; sharing dividends, including improving public services, promoting the application of AI in various economic sectors, and skills development; ensuring security, including establishing an AI security research institute to monitor, test and share information on emerging AI capabilities, risks and harms.
