The average life expectancy of residents reached 79 years, the maternal mortality rate dropped to 14.3 per 100,000, and the infant mortality rate dropped to 4.0 . According to the bulletin, the total amount of health resources in China continues to grow steadily. By the end of 2024, the total number of medical and health institutions in the country was 1.0936 million, an increase of 22,766 from the previous year, including 38,710 hospitals, an increase of 355 from the previous year. By the end of 2024, there were 13.02 million health technical personnel in China, an increase of 531,000 from the previous year, including 9.374 million health technical personnel in hospitals. The bulletin indicates that China's average medical expenses per capita are effectively controlled. In 2024, the average hospitalization expenses per capita were 9,870 yuan, a decrease of 4.3% from the previous year in current prices, and a decrease of 4.5% in comparable prices; the average outpatient expenses per capita were 361 yuan, a decrease of 0.2% from the previous year in current prices, and a decrease of 0.4% in comparable prices. The preliminary calculation of the total health expenditure in China in 2024 was 9.08955 trillion yuan, with government health expenditure accounting for 24.9%, social health expenditure accounting for 47.6%, and individual health expenditure accounting for 27.5%. The per capita total health expenditure was 6,454.4 yuan, and the proportion of health expenditure to GDP was 6.7%.
