As DRAM prices soar, Samsung Electronics' semiconductor department has refused the Mobile Experience Business Unit's request for a long-term supply contract of over one year for storage chips, instead requesting quarterly contracts for 3 months each. Even though MX business unit executives negotiated personally, they only reached an agreement for the fourth quarter DRAM contract. It is reported that the increase in chip prices will increase its proportion of the Galaxy S26 cost by at least 5%. The DS department is adjusting its production line to focus on producing high-profit products such as high-bandwidth memory for AI chips and low-power mobile DRAM to maximize profits.
