Barrick Mining Company is considering splitting its North American gold assets for listing.
Barrick Mining Company of Canada is considering conducting its North American gold assets in an initial public offering in response to current operational issues and cost overrun pressures. The board of directors has unanimously authorized management to study relevant plans, and the business units to be listed will include Barrick's joint venture interests in the Nevada gold mines and the Pueblo Viejo gold mine, as well as its fully-owned Fumir gold exploration project in Nevada. According to the company, if the IPO proceeds, it will involve selling a minority stake in the new entity, while Barrick will retain the majority of ownership. In addition, the company will also retain its other global gold and copper assets.
