China Iron and Steel Association holds a seminar on the domestic iron ore resource development plan.
On November 28th, the China Iron and Steel Industry Association held a seminar on domestic iron ore resource development work in Beijing as part of the "Iron Resource Development Plan". The meeting invited comrades from the Industrial Department of the National Development and Reform Commission, the Raw Materials Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Mining Rights Management Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, and the Non-coal Department of the National Mine Safety Supervision Bureau to attend and provide guidance. Over 20 enterprises such as China Minmetals, Baowu Resources, Ansteel Mining, China Minmetals, Shougang Mining, Hegang Mining, Shangang Group, Southern Manganese Industry, Jiugang Hongxing, Jinan Steel, Jianlong Heavy Industry, Anning Taitanium Co., Ltd., and Muding Desheng Mining, as well as the China Metallurgical Mines Association, the Metallurgical Industry Planning and Research Institute, Shanghai Steel Union, the Planning and Development Department of the Steel Association, and the Ore and Raw Materials Department also participated in the meeting. Officials from the relevant ministries and bureaus introduced the work at the departmental level, interpreted the newly revised "Mineral Resources Law of the People's Republic of China" which will be implemented on July 1, 2025, answered relevant questions briefly, and stated that China's high reliance on imported iron ore and the large space for increasing reserves and production of iron ore should be addressed through increased exploration and development efforts to effectively increase the production capacity of domestically produced iron ore.
