According to reports, the directive issued on November 28th shows that major smartphone manufacturers must ensure that new phones are pre-installed with the "Sanchar Saathi" application developed by the Indian government within 90 days, and users are not allowed to disable this application. For devices already in the supply chain, manufacturers must push this application through software updates. The directive was not made public and was only privately sent to designated companies. The new regulations cover companies such as Apple and Samsung. Apple had previously clashed with Indian telecommunications regulators over the development of anti-spam messaging applications and now faces even greater compliance pressure. According to sources, although Apple pre-installs its own applications in its phones, internal policies prohibit the pre-installation of any third-party applications before the devices are sold. Currently, Apple, Google, Samsung, and the Indian Department of Telecommunications have not responded to requests for comment.
