A recent survey in Japan showed that a total of over 20,000 food prices have increased throughout the year, with the number of items experiencing price increases increasing by approximately 60% compared to last year. The survey was conducted by the Japan Imperial Database Company among 195 major food and beverage producers nationwide to inquire about their price increases this year. The results showed that a total of 20,609 food items in Japan have had their prices raised in 2025, including chocolate pastries and soy products scheduled for significant price increases in December. The Imperial Database Company analyzed that this wave of food price increases in Japan is related to factors such as rising raw materials, energy, and labor costs.
