Recently, the People's Court of Meilan District, Haikou City, announced a verdict in a related case, ruling that Xiaomi-related companies should return double the down payment for a car purchase to the consumers involved, totaling 10,000 yuan. From publicly available information, this may be the first case in the country where Xiaomi cars were not delivered but payment was still demanded. On November 22, the plaintiff's lawyer, Liu Wei, of Beijing Strategy Law Firm, revealed that the case was heard in early November and the verdict was received recently. It is not yet clear whether Xiaomi will appeal. As of the deadline, there has been no response from Xiaomi.
