Over 200 teachers and students from a school in Nigeria have been kidnapped.
The Christian Association of Nigeria released a statement on the evening of November 21st, stating that a kidnapping incident occurred at a school in the central Nigerian state of Niger in the early hours of the 21st. At least 215 students and 12 teachers were kidnapped. The statement mentioned that suspected terrorists entered the St. Mary's School in the Agwara area and abducted over 200 students and teachers. The Secretary of the Niger State Government, Abu Bakar Usman, issued a statement on the 21st, saying that there were intelligence reports indicating an increase in local security threats before the incident occurred, prompting the government to order the temporary closure of boarding schools. However, St. Mary's School resumed teaching activities without reporting to or obtaining approval from the relevant authorities.
