Hong Kong Monetary Authority: Hong Kong banks are currently using generative artificial intelligence in different business areas.
According to the Wise Financial APP, on November 21st, Au Yuk Lam, Assistant Chief Executive of the Banking Conduct Department of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, spoke at the 2025 Cross-Strait and Hong Kong-Macao Wealth Management Forum and the 14th Outstanding Wealth Manager Skills Competition results announcement. He mentioned that a research report titled "Securities Services Evolution 2025" released by international financial institutions showed that out of over 500 financial industry leaders worldwide, 86% of respondents stated that their companies are conducting pilot projects on generative artificial intelligence, reflecting that global financial institutions have entered a stage where generative artificial intelligence adoption is meaningful and can yield tangible benefits. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority has also conducted surveys and invited banks to participate in sandbox testing, revealing that Hong Kong banks are currently starting to utilize generative artificial intelligence in different business areas.
