The newly elected academician is now the Vice Dean of the Department of Mathematics at Peking University and was born in the 1980s.
The Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering announced the results of the 2025 election of academicians on November 21, electing a total of 144 academicians, with 73 from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and 71 from the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Among them, "post-80s" Beijing University professor Liu Ruochuan became the youngest elected academician in this round of election at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Liu Ruochuan is currently a distinguished professor and vice dean of the School of Mathematical Sciences at Peking University, as well as the 14th vice chairman of the Chinese Mathematical Society.
