The intelligent fast lane at the Gongbei Port of Entry has inspected over 25 million passengers in the past year.
On November 20, 2024, at 0:00, the first batch of intelligent fast lanes in the country went online for trial operation at the Gongbei Port. According to statistics from the Gongbei Immigration and Border Inspection Station, in the year since the intelligent fast lanes went online, the number of people entering and exiting through the lanes has exceeded 25 million. In recent years, with the growing demands for shopping, tourism, and visiting friends among residents of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau, exchanges in various aspects such as economy, culture, and society have become increasingly frequent. The cross-border travel lifestyle of going to Zhuhai on weekends, traveling to Macau, and shopping in Hong Kong has gradually become a new trend. Currently, more than 70% of the "frequent travelers" in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau who use the intelligent fast lanes are from these three regions, with Hong Kong and Macau travelers accounting for over 40%. By the end of June this year, before the peak period of concentrated summer travel, the Gongbei Border Inspection Station upgraded most of the existing fast inspection lanes and added 69 intelligent fast customs clearance devices, basically achieving full coverage of inspection areas, allowing more passengers to experience the convenience brought by this measure. In November 2025, the National Immigration Administration launched 10 new measures, extending the "face recognition" intelligent customs clearance mode at the Gongbei Port to multiple ports nationwide, bringing the convenience of smart customs clearance to more regions. In addition, based on the original group eligible for "face recognition" intelligent customs clearance, Taiwan residents holding valid Taiwan Mainland Travel Permits for five years who agree to submit facial and fingerprint information for immigration and border inspection verification will also be added.
