Li Qiang meets with Zambian President Edgar Lungu
On the morning of November 20th local time, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council held talks with President Edgar Lungu at the Zambian State House. Li Keqiang pointed out that China is willing to work with Zambia to expand bilateral trade by implementing zero-tariff measures, tapping into the potential for cooperation in industries such as mining, new energy vehicles, and artificial intelligence, and strengthening cooperation in areas such as healthcare, agriculture, and human resources development to enhance the sense of gain for the people in China-Zambia cooperation. Both sides should take the opportunity of the "China-Africa People-to-People Exchange Year 2026" to enhance friendly exchanges at all levels, deepen cultural, educational, and tourism exchanges, and lay a solid public opinion foundation for cooperation between the two countries. China is willing to enhance judicial, police, law enforcement, and security cooperation with Zambia, enhancing security guarantees for bilateral cooperation. The revitalization of the TAZARA Railway is a common aspiration of the peoples of China, Tanzania, and Zambia. The three parties should work together to build this high-quality signature project of the Belt and Road Initiative, strengthen policy coordination, and jointly promote comprehensive development along the railway line to drive better development for countries and regions along the route. Currently, unilateralism and protectionist behavior are escalating, severely impacting the international system and world economy. China and Zambia should strengthen multilateral coordination and cooperation, together with other developing countries, to uphold international economic and trade order, fairness, justice, and common interests.
