US media: Pakistan to build artificial island to promote oil and gas exploration.
According to a report by the local time of Bloomberg on the 19th, Pakistan's state-owned energy company, Pakistan Petroleum Limited, will build an artificial island to increase the exploration of oil and natural gas. The report stated that Palikar, the General Manager of Exploration and Core Business Development Department of Pakistan Petroleum Limited, announced during an oil and gas conference in the capital city of Islamabad that the artificial island will be built 300 kilometers off the coast of Sindh province in southern Pakistan, with a planned height of 6 feet to prevent tidal interference with year-round exploration work. Palikar stated that the project took inspiration from Abu Dhabi, which has successfully built artificial islands for drilling. Palikar also mentioned that the island will be completed by February next year and will immediately begin operations. The report stated that Pakistan Petroleum Limited plans to drill about 25 wells.
