Our country's retail sales of gold, silver, and jewelry have increased by over 37%, and inbound tourism remains hot.
According to the Ministry of Commerce, in October, China's consumer market maintained stable growth momentum, with continued release of consumption potential. The sales of goods saw steady growth. In October, the retail sales of goods increased by 2.8%, with a rapid growth in sales related to trading in old for new items. Among them, the retail sales of communication equipment, cultural office supplies, and furniture by enterprises above a certain size increased by 23.2%, 13.5%, and 9.6% respectively. There is a strong demand for upgraded consumer goods, with the retail sales of gold, silver, jewelry, sports and entertainment products, and cosmetics increasing by 37.6%, 10.1%, and 9.6% respectively. The momentum in service consumption is good. In October, driven by the demand for holiday travel, the retail sales of tourism consulting and leasing services, transportation services, and cultural and leisure services all maintained rapid growth of over 10%. Restaurant income increased by 3.8%, with a growth rate 2.9 percentage points faster than in September. Inbound tourism remains hot, with 751,000 foreign visitors during the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, an increase of 19.8%.
