Leung Chun-ying sets up a $500 million creative fund to support three major directions and encourage childbirth.
On November 20th, World Children's Day, Ctrip Group co-founder Liang Jianzhang announced the establishment of the "Genovation Foundation" in Hong Kong in his personal name, planning to invest 500 million Hong Kong dollars in five years. Through the three main directions of "economic subsidy, cultural advocacy, policy research", the foundation will systematically explore solutions to the low fertility rate problem. The foundation name "Genovation" combines "genes" and "innovation", symbolizing not only the essence of life inheritance, but also highlighting the original intention of using innovative thinking to solve social problems - this is another major action by Liang Jianzhang after more than ten years of deep involvement in population issues from corporate practice to social welfare. It is understood that in addition to supporting the "Global Fertility Crisis Forum" to be held annually from January 2026 for policy research, the foundation has also opened two directions for funding: fertility subsidies for doctoral students in Hong Kong and funding for "fertility-friendly" themed cultural and artistic creative projects globally.
