The German Energy Storage Initiative Association released data on the 18th showing that at the beginning of this heating season, the natural gas storage capacity in Germany only reached 75% of the total capacity, failing to meet expectations. According to previous estimates, the natural gas storage capacity in Germany should have reached 81% at the beginning of November. Currently, the actual storage capacity is significantly lower than the same period in previous years, for example, the storage capacity at the beginning of November 2024 was 98%. In fact, the natural gas storage capacity in Germany reached the current level in September, but due to factors such as higher-than-expected natural gas consumption, the storage capacity did not increase. The association predicts that if this winter's weather is relatively mild, the natural gas storage capacity in Germany can be maintained at at least 30% by early February next year, reaching the legal level; but if it encounters extreme cold weather similar to 2010, the existing inventory may be exhausted by mid-January next year.
