The performance of representative Japanese stage comedies in Shanghai has been cancelled.

According to the Shanghai International Theatre Festival, the Shanghai International Comedy Festival "Yoshimoto Comedy Special", originally scheduled to be held at the Lanxin Grand Theatre from November 20th to 22nd, 2025, has been cancelled due to irresistible reasons. It is understood that "Yoshimoto New Comedy" is a representative stage comedy in Japan. Yoshimoto Kogyo is Japan's largest talent agency, television program production company, and also Japan's oldest entertainment agency. Yoshimoto Kogyo has the reputation of being the "kingdom of comedians". As a "comedy integrated trading company", since 1912, it has nurtured countless popular comedians in Japan over the past century, such as Ebi Ichimonji, Naomi Watanabe, Kazenui Mai, and Yukiharu East. Currently, it has over 700 artists under its management, dominating the Japanese variety show industry. On November 12th, the Shanghai International Comedy Festival issued a statement: it is with great regret that due to health reasons, the performer "Akinomi" who was scheduled to participate in the Shanghai International Comedy Festival's Yoshimoto Comedy Special is unable to come to China for the performance. Therefore, his performance has been cancelled.
