State Council Taiwan Affairs Office: Hope that our Taiwanese compatriots stand on the right side of history
On November 19th, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a routine press conference. A reporter asked: Regarding the recent incorrect remarks and actions towards Taiwan by Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae, Ma Ying-jeou, and Hong Xiu Zhu have criticized Takaichi Sanae, expressing deep concern over her aggressive remarks and actions, and believed that "cross-strait issues should not be intervened by foreign countries, and must be resolved by people from both sides of the strait." What is your comment on this? Spokesperson Zhu Fenglian replied, "We have noticed the voices from relevant individuals in Taiwan. The Taiwan issue is a matter for the Chinese people themselves and should only be resolved by the Chinese people on both sides of the strait. Takaichi Sanae openly made provocative remarks regarding Taiwan, blatantly interfering in Chinas internal affairs. We firmly oppose and will not tolerate it. If Japan dares to intervene in Taiwan Strait affairs, we will strike back decisively and thoroughly crush its aggression. We hope that the vast majority of Taiwan compatriots stand on the historically correct side, act as upright Chinese people, distinguish right from wrong, act with integrity, and firmly oppose "Taiwan independence" separatism and external interference along with mainland compatriots, firmly safeguarding the common homeland of the Chinese nation, and jointly creating a bright future of national unity and ethnic revitalization."
