25 disciplines in Shenzhen ranked among the top 50 in the world.

On November 18, the professional organization for higher education evaluation, the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), released its list of "ARWU Worlds Top Subjects 2025". There are a total of 91 subjects from 5 universities in Shenzhen on the list, an increase of 14 from last year. Among them, 49 subjects are ranked in the top 100 globally, and 25 subjects are ranked in the top 50 globally. ARWU began ranking subjects globally in 2009, and in 2025, two new subjects were added: Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Science and Engineering, bringing the total number of ranked subjects to 57, covering five major areas of science, engineering, life sciences, medicine, and social sciences. The Shenzhen universities that made the list this year include Shenzhen University, Southern University of Science and Technology, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), Shenzhen Polytechnic, and Shenzhen Technology University. The globally top ranking subjects cover basic disciplines, emerging disciplines, and interdisciplinary subjects, aiming to advance in key areas, blank areas, and urgently needed areas for national construction and development.
