Google plans to build a data center on Christmas Island in Australia.

Google has announced plans to build a data center on Christmas Island in Australia, located about 220 miles south of Indonesia. The tech giant confirmed on Monday the plans for the facility, as well as connecting the island to the underwater cable systems of the Maldives and Oman. Google said the center will be smaller than some of its other data centers and will share its digital infrastructure with local users.
