Our country's solar thermal industry is growing at twice the global rate, and costs will continue to decrease further in the next five years.

The annual compound growth rate of our country's solar thermal power generation industry reached 11.7%, significantly higher than the global growth rate of 4.24%. Yang Kun, Secretary of the Party Committee and Executive Vice Chairman of the China Electricity Council, stated that by the end of September 2025, China had completed the construction of 21 solar thermal power stations with an installed capacity of 1.57 million kilowatts, ranking third in the world; there are 30 projects under construction with an installed capacity of 3.1 million kilowatts, China has become the main force in the world for the addition of solar thermal power generation capacity. Thanks to rapid technological iteration and the scale effect, the cost of solar thermal projects continues to decline. Data disclosed at the meeting shows that the grid-connected electricity price of solar thermal power generation in China has dropped from 1.15 yuan/kWh for the first batch of demonstration projects to around 0.6 yuan/kWh. Ding Yeliang, member of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of China Guangdong Nuclear Power New Energy Holdings Co., Ltd., expects that during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, costs will further decrease, and the industry's competitiveness will be further enhanced.
