General Dynamics' electric boat subsidiary has received an additional $2.28 billion in funding for work on behalf of the U.S. Navy. The U.S. Navy said on Monday that the defense contractor will receive the extra funds for further advance procurement and construction of the hull for ballistic missile submarines. The funding is an increment to a 2020 U.S. Navy appropriation. The work will be carried out in Connecticut, Virginia, and Rhode Island, and is expected to be completed by December 2031.
