Reporter: According to reports, the US State Department has approved a total of approximately $330 million in arms sales to Taiwan, including related aircraft models, "non-standard aviation materials and spare parts," and maintenance services. May I ask for the spokesperson's comments on this? Zhang Xiaogang: The US selling weapons to Taiwan seriously violates the One China principle and the three Sino-US Joint Communiques, grossly interferes in China's internal affairs, harms China's sovereignty and security interests, and sends a serious wrong signal to the forces of "Taiwan independence". We strongly protest and firmly oppose this, and have made solemn representations to the US side. It needs to be emphasized that "aiding independence with weapons" will only backfire, and "using Taiwan to contain China" will not succeed. We urge the US to immediately stop its deplorable actions of arming Taiwan, to avoid impacting the development of military relations between the two countries. We warn the Democratic Progressive Party authorities that squandering the hard-earned money of the Taiwanese people on weapons is just a temporary solution, and that "relying on external forces for independence" and "rejecting reunification with force" are doomed to fail.
