On November 13, the customs officers at Dongdu Customs found, during an inspection of a batch of imported goods declared as "bedding," that the goods were made of mixed colored sponges and mixed colored threads/silks compressed, suspected to be foreign garbage. After identification, it was determined that the batch of goods were made by simply compressing various leftover fabrics or waste materials with different components generated during the processing in textile factories, and therefore belong to the category of foreign garbage prohibited from import in China, totaling 220.5 kilograms. According to relevant regulations such as the "People's Republic of China Law on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Wastes," for those who illegally import foreign garbage into the country, customs will order the return of the foreign garbage and impose a fine. Those who commit a crime will be prosecuted according to law.
