Ganfeng Lithium's Li Liangbin: If the demand growth for lithium carbonate exceeds 30% next year, prices may surpass 15,000 yuan per ton.
At the "10th International Summit on the Application of Power Batteries" held today, Li Liangbin, Chairman of Ganfeng Lithium, stated that the global demand for lithium carbonate is expected to reach 1.45 million tons by 2025, but due to increased demand in the second half of the year, the updated total annual demand is expected to reach 1.55 million tons. At the same time, the supply capacity is over 1.7 million tons, with an excess of around 200,000 tons, resulting in relatively low prices this year. He predicts that by 2026, lithium carbonate demand will increase by 30% to reach 1.9 million tons, and after evaluating supply capacity, it should increase by around 250,000 tons, bringing supply and demand into basic balance and potentially allowing the price of lithium carbonate to rise. If demand growth exceeds 30% next year, or even reaches 40%, and supply cannot keep up in the short term, prices may surpass 150,000 yuan per ton or even 200,000 yuan per ton.
