Atlanta Federal Reserve President: Not yet decided whether to agree to interest rate cut next month.
Raphael Bostic, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, indicated that although he supported the recent two interest rate cuts, he has not yet decided whether to support another rate cut next month. Bostic said at an event in Seattle on Friday: "I accepted the first two rate cuts, as for the next one, we will have to wait and see. I hope to judge what policy is most appropriate based on data." Federal Reserve officials currently have serious differences of opinion on whether to continue cutting rates next month. The Federal Reserve has cut rates by a total of 50 basis points so far this year. According to futures market pricing, investors currently see a slightly less than 50% chance of another 25 basis point rate cut at the December 9-10 meeting. Bostic pointed out that the current situation is challenging because "we are not making progress in both aspects of our dual mandate." He said earlier this week that inflation remains "a more clear and pressing risk in the economy."
