Federal Reserve's Laugran: It is difficult to support rate cuts in December.
Federal Reserve's Lael Brainard hinted again on Friday that she would oppose a rate cut by the Federal Reserve in December. She had previously opposed a rate cut by the Federal Reserve in October because she was concerned about high inflation trending upward, which would take too long to reach the Fed's 2% target. "As I look ahead to the December meeting, I think it would be challenging to support another rate cut unless we have compelling evidence that inflation is falling faster than I expected, or we see the labor market not just cooling gradually," Brainard said.
