On November 14, American solar manufacturer First Solar announced that it will build a new factory in Gaffney, South Carolina, to move the final production of its Series 6 Plus modules from overseas to the United States. The company stated that it plans to invest approximately $330 million in the construction of the new factory, which is expected to add 3.7 gigawatts of solar module capacity by 2027.
