On November 14th, local time, the Portuguese Institute for the Study of the Ocean and Atmosphere announced that three regions of Portugal would be under orange level alert for heavy rain for the next two days, which is the second highest level of rain warning in the country. The institute also announced that strong wind and giant wave alerts were issued for the regions of Funchal and Madeira in Portugal, with waves expected to reach up to 5 meters high. Authorities advised coastal areas to stop fishing activities. The Portuguese National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority stated that as of the evening of the 13th, Portugal had experienced a total of 2106 accidents due to severe weather, resulting in 2 deaths and 1 injury. The highest number of accidents were recorded in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley regions, reaching 1196 incidents.
