OpenAI launched a group chat pilot feature on November 13th, supporting up to 20 people to chat with ChatGPT together, marking the company's first foray into shared AI interactive experiences. This feature is currently only available in Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, and Taiwan for both web and mobile users, and is applicable to different subscription levels such as Free, Go, Plus, and Pro. With ChatGPT's weekly active users reaching 800 million, this feature is seen as a key step for OpenAI to enhance messaging and social products. OpenAI stated that group chats can help users collaborate, brainstorm, and make decisions together with friends, family, or colleagues, with the goal of making ChatGPT a platform similar to a "multi-person workspace + AI assistant."
