Gong Zheng met with the chairman and chairman-elect of the British-Chinese Trade Association, believing that Shanghai's development will create a greater stage for British-funded enterprises.
Today, Mayor Gong Zheng of Shanghai met with the Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce in China, Peter Burnett, and the Chairman-elect Wu Sitian.
Gong Zheng said that the British Chamber of Commerce in China is an important bridge for cooperation and exchange between China and the UK. Over the years, the chamber has actively organized various business activities, and its member companies have long been rooted in Shanghai and deeply involved in China's development, playing a role as participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of Shanghai's reform and opening up. Currently, Shanghai is further deepening reform, expanding high-level opening up, and striving for high-quality development. He believes that Shanghai's development will provide a greater stage for British investment enterprises, and looks forward to both sides deepening cooperation and achieving mutual benefit in the future. He hopes that the British Chamber of Commerce in China can fully play its role as a bridge, actively promote more British companies to invest and start businesses in Shanghai, support Chinese companies going global, and promote exchanges and cooperation between enterprises in finance, professional services, biomedicine, artificial intelligence, green low-carbon and other fields. He welcomes the British Chamber of Commerce in China and its member companies to actively participate in the Import Expo, bring more new products, technologies, and services to Shanghai, introduce them to China, and provide valuable suggestions to help Shanghai continue to build a market-oriented, rule-of-law and international first-class business environment.
Peter Burnett and Wu Sitian said that Shanghai is one of the most internationalized metropolises in the world, and they are confident in its future development. The economies of the UK and China complement each other, and they should further cooperate through international trade and open cooperation to jointly deal with the challenges of current international trade protectionism. They thanked Shanghai for its strong support for the development of association member companies in Shanghai, and the association will actively promote more British companies to establish themselves in Shanghai, help more Chinese companies go global, and create a "Sino-British dream" of cooperation and mutual benefit.
