On November 14th, a ministerial meeting on joint crackdown on telecommunications fraud was held in Kunming, Yunnan, China, with the participation of China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. The six countries had in-depth discussions on further joint efforts to combat transnational telecommunications fraud, reaching a series of consensus. The cooperation on repatriating and handing over suspects has continuously improved the effectiveness of the crackdown, contributing to the maintenance of regional peace and security. It is understood that in recent years, the Chinese government has actively promoted global security and governance initiatives, and has had successful law enforcement cooperation with Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and other countries, achieving significant results. Particularly this year, China, Myanmar, and Thailand have established a trilateral coordination mechanism to jointly crack down on gambling fraud in the Mongyawaddy region of Myanmar, leading to the repatriation of over 5,500 suspects by Myanmar authorities. The Chinese and Laotian police jointly launched operations to crack down on over 600 suspects in four major telecommunications fraud hubs in the Golden Triangle region. The Chinese and Vietnamese police conducted a special operation to combat telecommunications fraud and gambling crimes, capturing 149 suspects. Additionally, the Chinese and Cambodian police have intensified joint efforts, resulting in the arrest of 2,141 suspects in various locations in Cambodia, all of which have been repatriated. These joint operations have effectively deterred telecommunications fraud syndicates.
