Despite the various countries' commitments to reduce climate pollution, global carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels are still expected to reach a historical high in 2025. The 20th Global Carbon Budget report shows that global carbon emissions are projected to reach 38.1 billion tons in 2025, an increase of 1.1% from 2024. Meanwhile, the amount of carbon dioxide absorbed by the oceans and land is decreasing, making the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference in Brazil even more urgent.
